The Classless Chaps: Meet the Chaps
Dany Rivera
From their many projects including performing and producing in cabaret, teaching dance, selling art, and facilitating an underground opossum fight ring; Dany knows how to keep busy.
An original member from the Classless Chaps when we were in our garage band phase, they’re planning on seeing it through until the end when we reach our garage band phase— in a bigger garage!
Sheldon Blackhorse
Sheldon is an actor, writer, and comedian with nine years of experience in performance. He has acted in short comedy skits at CNM and with Blackout Theatre, honing his craft in both stage and improvisational acting. Sheldon has been a member of college improv teams and is part of the local improv group, the Classless Chaps. In addition to acting and writing short skits for the past six years, he has recently stepped into the world of stand-up comedy, bringing his sharp wit and storytelling to the stage.
Emily Lindsay
Emily wandered into the Classless Chaps in the summer of 2021 with a dollar in her pocket and way too many first names. Is she a comedian? An actor? A songwriter? A pro-union anarchist? The FOH manager of a bakery in Kansas? No one will tell us.
Dominic Deems
Dom is the first if his family to entertain through the arts. Knowing nothing bad has ever happened to newbies dabbling in the arts he’s excited to create new spells...err works! Create new works! Of art! Nothing nefarious going on. The Chaps wholly endorse all art he creates with them like the Classeles Chats podcast.
When he’s not with the Chaps you can find him performing improv with Left on Read at the Box.
Lex
“In the beginning Lex was created. This has made many people very angry and has been widely regarded as ‘a bad move’. When Lex isn’t engaging in tomfoolery with The Classless Chaps, they can be found lurking ominously in the back of theaters as a part time sub-in for Erik the Phantom, or taking part in their favorite past time - shouting into the void. You can catch Lex at random local improv events , or by setting up an elaborate trap that involves a box, a stick, some string, and some bait cheese. Lex enjoys lamenting on the Chap’s award winning comedy podcast, and their voice *is* for hire should you need a professional yapper. “
Steve Blacksmith
Steve has been entertaining the world for over twenty years. The angelic light that radiates from his comedy has had many people saying, “that was pretty fun... Yeah. Good job. Well, we really need to get back. The kids are with a sitter… So… Seriously, though, it was good... Good.”
Be it podcasts, sketch, improv, film or live theatre, Steve does it all! As long as it pays. He is the president of City College Productions and is currently a college film instructor.
Nicholas Johnson
Nicholas was influenced by his eldest brother, Aleksandr, to become a Marxist in 1889 while practicing law. After he was arrested and exiled to Siberia, he emerged as the leader of the Bolshevik faction. Oh, wait. That was Lenin. Last October he performed an original written horror story at the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens that was said to have been “better than ChatGPT,” and in January he finished Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman at the Vortex Theater, a uniquely rewarding experience. Unlike Lenin, he teaches Aikido and is a proud professional member of Storytellers of NM.
